Standing Committees at TU Dortmund University

The standing commission advises on matters of teaching and studies, including academic further education, of fundamental or university-wide significance - in particular on issues of teaching quality in accordance with the TU Dortmund University Regulations on Quality Management. The commission consists of five professors, two academic employees and two students. The Vice President Academic Affairs is a non-voting member.

At the university level, the commission performs the tasks stipulated in the Act on the Improvement of Quality in Teaching and Studies at North Rhine-Westphalian Universities. The commission consists of six students, three professors, two academic employees and one employee from technology and administration. The Vice President Academic Affairs is a non-voting member.

The commission consists of four university professors, two academic staff members, one staff member from technology and administration, and two students. The Vice President Finance is represented on the commission without voting rights.

The standing committee advises the Senate on matters of research of fundamental or university-wide importance. In particular, it considers cross-department research priorities, the promotion of young scientists and the transfer of research results. The commission consists of three professors, two academic staff members and one student. The Vice President Research is represented on the commission without voting rights.

The joint commission of the Rectorate and the Senate advises on the principles of planning, structural development and quality management at TU Dortmund University. The members of the joint commission are the members of the Rectorate as well as three university lecturers from the Senate and one representative from each of the other status groups.

The Equal Opportunities Committee monitors the preparation of and compliance with the equal opportunity concepts, participates in the performance-oriented allocation of funds, and comments on the objections of the Equal Opportunities Officer. It includes two representatives from each of the groups represented in the Senate. The Equal Opportunities Officer and her deputies are members of the committee with the right to propose and speak.

TU Dortmund University is committed to upholding the principles of good scientific practice. It finds its essential expression in the fact that scientists continuously check the methods and results of their own scientific activity for correctness. The principles include that all scientists exercise honesty towards themselves as well as towards the scientific and non-scientific public in all aspects of their scientific activities.

The joint Ethics Committee advises and supports scientists of TU Dortmund University in legal and ethical questions related to the implementation of research projects before they begin.

It is primarily active for members of departments 11 to 17. In exceptional cases, it also processes applications from other departments or TU Dortmund University institutions on request, if its workload permits.

The committee examines the research projects in particular with regard to the protection of human dignity and the autonomy and self-determination of those people who are involved in the research. It also deals with data protection issues.
