We can evaluate, analyze and compile data for you on the following topics:

  • graduates and examinations
  • students
  • doctoral candidates and doctoral qualifications
  • degree programs
  • capacity analysis (see below)
  • rankings (see below)

For reporting we use a business intelligence system (IBM Cognos BI), which is based on a data warehouse. Central reports are currently available for the departments, which support the internal control and planning processes. You can find out the current contact person for the department in your Dean's Office or from us.

We will support you in determining suitable key figures or also provide smaller statistical information. Just give us a call or write to us:

Based on the requirements of the Kapazitätsverordnung (Capacity Ordinance, "KapVO"), we annually determine the number of places available for first-year students per degree program (training capacity) and submit it to the responsible ministry. In cases where demand exceeds the determined number of places available, taking into account staffing, space and subject-specific conditions, it is necessary to set an admission restriction.

We coordinate the process for setting admission numbers in consultation with the Dean's Office and the university management.

A more detailed description of the calculation as well as the corresponding legal basis can be found in the Serviceportal (internal to the university) under Informationen der Hochschule (login required).

Within the framework of the quality management system, the TU Dortmund University aims to implement targets in teaching and studying and to continuously develop the study programs. To this end, progressions of various key figures are monitored with the aim of identifying changes or problems in good time and, if necessary, taking corrective measures.

Concrete monitoring reports are:
- workload calculation
- data reports for the departments within the framework of the quality management system or system accreditation
- ECTS statistics NRW (monitoring of the course of studies on the basis of aggregated target and actual percentages)
- monitoring of the Future Contract for Study and Teaching (ZSL)
- monitoring of the course of studies

Despite methodological limitations, rankings have become an important source of orientation and information for students and scientists.

TU Dortmund University has set itself the target of continuously becoming more visible in rankings. We collect all important information on the topic of university rankings and document developments.

There is a wide range of ranking providers on the market that need to be specifically served with data: from governmental to purely private providers. Basically, a distinction can be made between national and international rankings.
