A total of 21 students benefited from the fund of the Society of Friends of TU Dortmund University.

In the spring of 2022, the Association of Friends of TU Dortmund University (Gesellschaft der Freunde, GdF) wanted to help students affected by the war against Ukraine in a quick and uncomplicated way. With donations, it built up an aid fund to pay out emergency aid in the amount of 500 euros. 21 students were able to receive financial aid last year. In total, GdF paid out more than 10,000 euros.

“Many students are particularly burdened by the current situation. Thanks to the help of the Association of Friends, they were able to receive financial support quickly and unbureaucratically. Our special thanks also go to the donors who made this support possible,” says Vice President International Affairs Prof. Tessa Flatten. The last aid was disbursed in December 2022.

“It was important for us to be able to help students of TU Dortmund University who were in need of money due to the war at very short notice. Thanks to the emergency aid, some students were able to pay their rent first, for example, and then look for a part-time job,” emphasizes Guido Baranowski, Chairman of the Association of Friends of TU Dortmund. The GdF had appealed not only to its members but also publicly for donations for the aid fund.
