The large daycare center at Wilhelm-Dilthey-Strasse 2c on the South Campus is set to open its doors on 1 April 2022.

The large daycare center “Schlauschlümpfe” opened on 1 April and is offering nine new places for children of university members.

With the construction of two large daycare centers on the South Campus, TU Dortmund University is continuing to invest in ensuring a better balance between work, studies and family. The first of the two centers is now in operation.

The large daycare center at Wilhelm-Dilthey-Strasse 2c on the South Campus has opened its doors on 1 April 2022. The new building is spacious, meets the latest energy-efficiency standards and has a large garden, a landscaped roof, a solar energy system and a wooden facade. “We are delighted with the additional childcare places on campus. This will help to better meet the high demand for childcare for TU parents,” says Dr. Ute Zimmermann, Head of the Staff Unit Equal Opportunity, Family, Diversity.

The nine children aged between two months and three years are cared for by daycare workers. The core times for childcare are between 7.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Parents’ individual needs can be taken into account in consultation with the daycare staff.

Regardless of where they live, members of the university, both employees and students, can apply for free places. Like in other facilities, the parental contribution is based on the applicable regulations of the city of Dortmund or the city in which the child is registered.

Any parents who are interested can now find all the documents and information on the Family Services website.
