The Corporate Center Legal Affairs takes care of all matters concerning legal issues.

Legal Affairs is responsible for providing legal advice and for representing all TU Dortmund University’s legal interests in court.

The section checks legal questions in matters related to public service, labor and staff representation law and processes all civil law issues concerning TU Dortmund University (claims for damages and compensation, warranty, enforcement of claims, dunning and foreclosure law). Its core tasks also include public law (especially administrative law), building and real estate law, intellectual property rights (copyright and trademark law), and press law as well as legal disputes concerning admissions and examinations. The section is additionally responsible for all the university’s memberships.

Academic Legal Affairs is responsible for general queries related to higher education law as well as for the legal affairs of university self-administration (statutes, rights of central and decentral bodies), doctoral and postdoctoral procedures, and matters within the scope of legal supervision of the student body.

The Contract Law team is responsible for the general checking, from a legal perspective, of contracts and contractual arrangements for all areas of responsibility within the section. It is also in charge of documenting and overseeing the university’s entire contract portfolio within the section’s inherent area of responsibility.
