Internationality
In the course of globalization and the global competition for the brightest minds, internationalization at all university levels represents an important pillar in the development of TU Dortmund University. Measures and offers that are anchored in the university's internationalization strategy are intended to help make TU Dortmund University an attractive location for research and teaching in the long term and to increase the university's visibility in the national and international environment.
The developed measures complement and expand the regular offer of TU Dortmund University in the field of internationality. Further information can be found on the page of the International Office.
In addition to the previous offers, further innovative measures have been developed and implemented under the responsibility of the Prorectorate International Affairs as well as the International Office of TU Dortmund University.
Measures
The International Research and Entrepreneurship Office supports and motivates outstanding international students to continue their research at TU Dortmund University (or to recruit them from abroad). Furthermore, the IREO supports researchers in inbound and outbound entrepreneurship, e.g. the development of international markets. In this context, the different scientific and economic systems worldwide are also taken into account, the recruitment of internationally outstanding young scientists is supported and technology transfer into practice is promoted.
The establishment of colleges makes it easier for international students to start their studies and to integrate at TU Dortmund. In this way, differences in school education can be compensated for or missing subject-specific qualifications can be made up for, thus ensuring a bond with Dortmund as a place to study. Accordingly, the colleges are intended to serve as an instrument for recruiting and retaining qualified students and at the same time contribute to their academic success.
With tu.hosts, doctoral students can invite high-ranking scientists* from international institutions for lectures and events in order to integrate excellent international researchers into doctoral training at TU Dortmund University and at the same time strengthen the respective doctoral student's own international networks. Since the summer semester of 2023, a call for applications has been issued every semester. Successful applicants can receive up to 4,000 euros in funding to cover the costs of travel, fees, and the event.
