The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering encompasses the two disciplines of Architecture and Urban Design as well as Civil Engineering. One hallmark of this department is the close interconnection of its two subjects which is evident in the interdisciplinary training approach of the “Dortmunder Modell Bauwesen” where architects and civil engineers are trained together. This model is unique in Germany and embodies an educational concept that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork while also providing thorough professional training in the respective discipline. In this context, the degree program also imparts interdisciplinary foundations that encourage a holistic view of construction projects. All programs include practical components in the form of specific collaborative projects.
