With which commitment did you convince?

Social commitment is of particular importance in my study program. In addition to good grades, the commitment must be convincing. I am active in various areas and was particularly able to contribute with my social commitment in the initial reception center for refugees. There we set up a volunteer childcare service parallel to the German course so that mothers with children could also take part in the German course. I still accompany a family I met there on important matters and have become a friend to them.

What has changed in your life / in your studies (based in the Ruhr area) as a result of the scholarship?

The greatest benefit for me through my study program is the connection with other fellow scholarship holders and speakers. This allows you to be in constant exchange with others. You can be inspired by their projects, discuss your own ideas and benefit from experiences and professions.

The Avicenna Studienwerk brings together scholars from the same regions to form regional groups. In this way, scholarship holders from the surrounding area are connected with each other. This has the advantage that regional projects and events can be carried out and organized. The organization of events is left up to the scholarship holders themselves.

What does it mean to you to be a scholarship recipient?

All these opportunities that the Studienwerk gives us come with responsibilities. As a scholarship holder, I see myself in the role of creating a connection between people who are dependent on our voluntary work and people who can provide this assistance.

What special offers does your Förderwerk have that you can take advantage of?

The Avicenna Studienwerk is a Muslim study institution, one of 13 nationally recognized and supported study institutions. It not only tolerates my religious affiliation and practice, but actively supports me in living out my faith through theological input and exchange with scholarship holders.

Were you aware before your studies that you had all the requirements for a scholarship? What tips would you give to students who are interested in a scholarship?

At the beginning of the application, I was not sure whether I met all the requirements for a scholarship and whether I fit the profile of a scholarship holder. Full of hope and uncertainty, I applied and I think everyone felt the same way when applying. If the grades and commitment are more or less right, give it a try! Maybe you are exactly the puzzle piece with your visions and interests that the Studienwerk is still looking for.
