Welcome to Dortmund and to TU Dortmund University!
TU Dortmund University kindly invites you to take part in a variety of public events in the city centre as well as on the campus.

Find out about interesting topics,
improve your German languages skills,
discover new places and get to know new people in Dortmund.

We are looking forward to welcoming you,

  • Physics between Breakfast and Borussia
    On several Saturdays at 10.30am, professors from the TU Dortmund explain scientific phenomena known from everyday life.

  • Image and Sound
    The St. Reinoldi church turns into a lecture hall: A cooperation of History of Art, Musicology and City History.

  • KidsUni
    Children investigate exciting topics in a playful way. (For children between the age of 8 and 12 and their parents).

  • University Library
    For everyone: read scientific literature for free.

  • Music Events
    There are many concerts by various ensembles of the TU Dortmund in and around Dortmund (partly for free).

  • University Orchestra
    The university orchestra invites musicians to participate in rehearsals - regularly or occasionally. Start: 20th October, every Tuesday 7-9pm, room: Audimax.

  • Open Day
    In October the TU Dortmund will open its doors for everyone: you can gain insights into laboratories and get to know projects and services.

  • TU in U – Campus City
    The University has its own floor in the U-Tower, where exhibitions and other events take place.


  • Uni-Film-Club
    Every Wednesday (during the term) the University turns into a cinema. For little money you can watch comedies, documentaries, blockbusters or thrillers (ticket 2.50€). Program


  • City-Talks
    A regular event, that takes place in the Museum of Art and Cultural History of Dortmund. This year’s topic is: “homes”


  • Consultation in the Department of Computer Science
    Every other Friday the Department of Computer Science offers consultations for pupils, parents or teachers, who are interested in courses or job prospects.

  • Taster Day: Lectures for prospective students
    Prospective students are welcome to participate in lectures and seminars for one day.

  • Dortmund University Day
    In January universities around Dortmund will open their doors for children. Pupils can participate in lectures and visit laboratories.

  • Information Evening
    The annual information evening for prospective students takes place in June/July. You can get information on applications, courses of study and requirements.

  • Series of lectures: occupational fields of cultural studies
    The lectures introduce different careers in the field of cultural studies.

  • Summer festival
    The summer festival in June includes lots of events like live music, international food, games and fun for everyone.

  • DASA Working World Exhibition
    DASA is Germany's largest Working World Exhibition. It covers an area equivalent to two football pitches and can offer you plenty of exciting experiences. DASA informs you about the world of work, its status for the individual and society, and the importance of tailoring work to human requirements.
