Für einen guten Start

Liebe Studierende der TU Dortmund,

zum neuen Wintersemester haben wir am Montag zahlreiche Erstsemester im Signal-Iduna-Park, dem Stadion von Borussia Dortmund, begrüßt. Auf diesem Weg hier wünschen wir allen einen guten Start ins Wintersemester. Wir sind uns sicher, Sie freuen sich darauf, wieder auf dem Campus zusammenzukommen, gemeinsam Neues zu lernen und Ihre Ziele zu erreichen.

Nutzen Sie auch die Chance, überfachliche Zukunftskompetenzen zu erwerben. Dafür bietet die TU Dortmund zum Beispiel Zertifikatsprogramme an, die allen Studierenden offenstehen, wie etwa das studium oecologicum, Data Literacy oder (neu) Entrepreneurship. Wir hoffen zudem, dass wir Ihnen noch vor Ende des Wintersemesters ein Update aus dem landesweiten Projekt KI:connect geben werden können, das sich an NRW-Hochschulen für einen freien Zugang zu KI-Programmen wie ChatGPT einsetzt. 

Wenn Sie während Ihrer Studienzeit Hilfe oder Beratung brauchen, finden Sie auch diese an der TU Dortmund. Gern machen wir alle Studierenden darauf aufmerksam, dass es sowohl im Dezernat Studierendenservice als auch beim Studierendenwerk Dortmund eine Psychologische Studienberatung gibt, die Sie bei außerfachlichen Problemen unterstützt. Wer sich im Hochschulalltag diskriminiert fühlen sollte, kann Kontakt zur Zentralen Beratungsstelle zum Schutz vor Diskriminierung und vor sexualisierter Gewalt (SchuDS) aufnehmen. Das Studierendenwerk und der AStA bieten auch Beratung bei finanziellen Schwierigkeiten.

Alle Erstsemester haben hoffentlich bereits in der O-Woche Unterstützung bei der Orientierung auf dem Campus erhalten. Weitere Infos gibt es auch auf den Ersti-Seiten der Fakultäten – und zögern Sie bitte nicht, sich bei Fragen an Kommiliton*innen und Lehrende zu wenden. Eine besondere Starthilfe gibt es für Studierende der beiden Pilotfakultäten Physik sowie Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik: Hier startet nun im Rahmen des Projekts beVinuS das „nullte Semester“, ein Onlinekurs zum Auffrischen von Schulwissen.

For a good start

Dear TU Students,

On Monday, we welcomed many first-year students to the new winter semester at the Signal Iduna Park, the stadium of Borussia Dortmund. With this email we would like to wish you all a good start into the winter semester. We are sure that you are looking forward to meeting again on campus, learning together and achieving your goals.

We would also like to encourage you to acquire useful future skills beyond your major. The certificate programs, which are open to all students, offer an opportunity to do so. These include the studium oecologicum, Data Literacy or (new) Entrepreneurship. We also hope to be able to give you an update on the state-wide project KI:connect before the end of the winter semester. This project is working with the universities in North Rhine-Westphalia to provide free access to generative AI programs like ChatGPT.

If you ever need help or advice during your stay with TU Dortmund University, you will also find it on campus. We would like to point out to all students that the Student Services and the Studierendenwerk Dortmund offer psychological student counseling to help you with problems outside of your field of study. If you feel discriminated against in university life, you can contact the Counseling Center for Protection against Discrimination and Sexualized Violence (SchuDS). The Studierendenwerk and the AStA also offer advice in case of financial difficulties.

We hope that all first-semester students have already received support during orientation week in finding their way around campus. Further information can also be found on the departments’ first-year pages. Please do not hesitate to contact fellow students and faculty, if you have further questions. Special support will be provided for students in the two pilot departments of Physics and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology: The “zeroth semester”, an online course to refresh school knowledge, is now starting as part of the beVinuS project.
