Dear Readers:

TU Dortmund University was honored to welcome two prominent guests in our main lecture hall this month: Prof. Reinhard Genzel from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching was another Nobel Prize winner to visit us as part of the lecture series “Initial Spark”. The physicist received the award in 2020 for his research on black holes. During his lecture on these mysterious objects he took the audience on a fascinating journey to the center of our Milky Way.

Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim was our guest as part of the Institute of Journalism's lecture series “The Knowledge Makers”. The science journalist, who is well-known from various television programs, talked about her career and encouraged the audience to become active knowledge communicators themselves.

I would also like to invite you to our Academic Anniversary Celebration, which will take place in the main lecture hall on 18 December. Please register by 6 December.
