Info Letter October 2025

Dear Readers:

In a complex world full of challenges, sound communication of scientific findings is essential. At TU Dortmund University, we embrace this mission and regularly engage with the public. For around 30 years, we have been strengthening the dialogue between science and society through the Gambrinus Forum. At the Dortmunder U, we also present insights into a variety of our research and teaching activities, such as the current exhibition “Conclusion? Inclusion!”, which showcases the pioneering work of DoBuS.

TU scientists also contribute their expertise to politics and, for example, advise the federal government, as do JProf. Laura Naegele and Prof. Christian Deindl from the Department of Social Sciences. Visitors to the Bochum Planetarium can currently enjoy a captivating journey to the far reaches of the universe in a show created by UA Ruhr researchers. On 11 November, Nobel Prize winner Prof. Stefan W. Hell will be a guest at TU Dortmund University and report on his successful development of STED microscopy, which no one had believed in for years. I cordially invite you to his lecture as part of the INITIAL SPARK series in the Audimax. Please register here.

More news from October can be found in this info letter.

Best regards
Manfred Bayer
President of TU Dortmund University
