Last week, we could celebrate a major success when the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced which Clusters of Excellence would be funded from 2026 as part of the Excellence Strategy of the federal and state governments. I am extremely happy that both clusters involving TU Dortmund University have been approved: RESOLV, in which we explore solvents together with Ruhr University Bochum, will enter its third funding period. Together with the universities of Bonn and Siegen, as well as the Forschungszentrum Jülich, we were also able to acquire funding for the new Cluster of Excellence “Color Meets Flavor” in the field of particle physics.
A third Cluster of Excellence was also approved in the Ruhr region: Ruhr University Bochum’s proposal for CASA on cybersecurity has also been extended. The success of science in our region is also based on close cooperation with the University of Duisburg-Essen and non-university research institutions. We will continue to build on this and, in particular, will deepen our cooperation in the University Alliance Ruhr.
At a university-wide presentation on 5 June, we will explain how TU Dortmund University will now strategically position itself in research. All employees and students are cordially invited to attend.
