Info Letter January 2026

Dear Readers:

Even eighty years after the end of the Nazi regime, remembering its victims remains our enduring obligation. Especially today, as antisemitism and historical amnesia are once again on the rise, we must face this responsibility with determination: Never again is now.

With the exhibition HOLO-VOICES, which opened on 27 January at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein, a place of remembrance and learning that is unique in Europe has been created. Visitors can encounter Holocaust survivors in the form of holograms – digital representations of real people who respond to questions. These encounters allow for a dialogue – even when the witnesses themselves will no longer be among us.

TU Dortmund University has actively supported the realization of this project. Our university contributes interdisciplinary expertise from journalism and computer science to help keep memories alive for future generations. I invite you to visit the exhibition, experience it for yourself, and let the voices of the survivors speak to you.
