Occupational Safety and Health Protection

The employees of the Office of Occupational Safety, Environmental and Health Protection advise you on the fulfillment of your tasks and duties as well as on your questions regarding occupational safety and environmental protection at TU Dortmund University. It is the task of the respective responsible manager to implement the requirements relevant to occupational safety and environmental protection for your work area.

We can advise you on the following topics, among others:
  • Safe and ergonomic workplace design
  • Rights and duties in organizational occupational safety
  • first aid
  • Fire protection
  • Disposal of hazardous waste and electrical scrap
  • Together with the company physician on preventive occupational health measures
You can obtain from us
  • Personal protective equipment (only through us)
  • Rental measuring devices (noise, electrical equipment)
  • Safety labeling
  • First aid materials
  • Skin protection
  • Containers for waste disposal
Among other things, we have the tasks of
  • Processing and forwarding accident reports from employees
  • Processing notifications for laser equipment and permits in accordance with the Radiation Protection and X-Ray Ordinances, the Genetic Engineering Law and the Water Law
  • Training in safety and fire protection
  • Assessment of building pollutants

In order to achieve safe and healthy workplaces in the long term, we also rely on the cooperation of all employees. Inevitably, some problems remain hidden from us during the regular inspections and risk assessments, especially if they occur only temporarily. We therefore ask you to bring any questions arising from your area of responsibility to our attention. This can be done in a direct conversation with us, via the safety officers or via the staff council. We will then work out suggestions for improvement and solutions for the individual problems together with all those involved.
