Like almost no other German city, Dortmund has seen enormous change in recent years. The former ‘steel city’ has developed into a modern, cosmopolitan metropolis.
With more than five million inhabitants from over 200 countries, the Ruhr Area is the largest urban agglomeration in Germany, and its face is shaped by dozens of towns and cities that have retained their unique character.
In its handling of the transfer of research results Dortmund is exemplary. An important location factor for start-ups and established companies is the close connection to TU Dortmund University and the Science and Technology Campus.
