New developments in the field biosciences essentially depend on the knowledge about biological processes and the development of new micro-technological tools. Against this backdrop, a research focus with a distinct chemical and molecular orientation as well as a micro-technological component has been established at Technische Universität Dortmund. Studying function, modification and interaction of proteins and modulators of their activity is of central interest in research. The second focus of bioscience research in Dortmund is the biotechnological production of fine chemicals and active agents including the necessary separation and reprocessing steps. Technische Universität Dortmund closely cooperates with the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology (MPI) and the Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS).
