Transfer Office

The Transfer Logo of the TU DortmundFrom the idea to the finished product – the Transfer Office of the TU Dortmund helps students and tutors “to get rid of” their research performances. The team offers a broad spectrum of advice and services around the topic science and technology transfer, invention report, patent rights and business start-ups.

This way the Transfer Office supports the transfer of scientific results into practical application and use. There can be different ways of cooperation: FuE-orders, advice, nationally and internationally funded projects, further education, business start-ups, diploma and study theses, personnel procurement and exchange, internships, laboratory use and seminars/events.

Above that the Transfer Office of the TU Dortmund coordinates the founder network of the Dortmund universities (G-DUR).  The network is supported within the scope of the initiative Business Start-Ups from Science (EXIST) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

EXIST promotes th culture of independency at universities and research institutions in Germany. Partners of the network EXIST are the Transfer Office of the Technische Universität Dortmund, the Transfer Office of the Dortmund University for Applied Science, the city of Dortmund with its two start2grow-business start-up competitions and the technology centres in Dortmund, Lünen, Schwerte, Hamm and Kamen.

The network offers a learning program for self-employment, advisory start-up consultants at the Dortmund universities, the support of the Dortmund start-up competitions start2grow and low-cost starter offices, the so-called pre-incubator centres. Since the start of the network in 2002 the partners have accompanied 60 business start-ups. With its network, G-DUR is one of the leading national start-up initiatives at universities.
