The university administration ensures that TU Dortmund’s tasks with regard to planning, administration and legal matters run smoothly. It is also solely responsible for the administrative matters of the organs and boards of the university. It especially supports the deans in their tasks. As a member of the rectorate, the Chancellor heads the university administration. He is supervisor of all non-academic employees and the budget commissioner.
The university administration sees itself as a service institution for students, tutors, researchers, employees and prospective students as well as all other members of the university. In doing so it orients its structure and processes towards rendering the infrastructure performances in a need-based, prompt and customer-oriented way and thus to strongly support the key tasks of the university in teaching and research. These guidelines expand into the general principle of the administration.
